Bela Ropes bring texture and contemporary elegance outdoors.
Following the introduction of a new textile design and metal coating colours for Kettal in 2016, Doshi Levien were asked to design the ropes that are a quintessential ingredient of many Kettal products, first introduced in the Landscape collection in 2009. Bela ropes was inspired by a fabric with a twill weave structure. Wrapping this fabric around an existing rope immediately revealed the direction for the new Kettal ropes. Taking the lead from the Terrain fabrics, the ropes play on the tonal differences between colours. The challenge was to use the elegant thin lines of the twill as a way to mix colour; from a distance the ropes look visually rich and textural and on closer inspection we discover it is provided by the twill pattern. The name Bela, which in Hindi is a flowering creeper, describes the lively colourful expression of this reinvented rope material of which there are now 19 different colours to combine with the Kettal palette of materials.

To preserve the appearance and durability of your Kettal outdoor rope furniture, clean the surfaces regularly by gently brushing or vacuuming away dust and debris. For deeper cleaning, use a soft brush or cloth with mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly. Treat stains immediately by gently blotting the area with a soft cloth or sponge, avoiding rubbing to protect the rope fibres.
